Hi, my name is Kelly Barnes and I am a Junior at TCU. I was born and raised in Austin, TX and have always wanted to attend TCU. I am a political science major with a minor in Geography. I went to a private high school in Austin and enjoyed participating in many sports on campus.
The reason I am participating in this class is because it is required for me, however I would like to improve my writing skills as I feel they should be a little stronger. I am also very interested in this election so I look forward to discussions in class.
My experience with writing is primarily dominated by constant email exchanges and text messages with friends, family and work related business. I have yet to take an English class at TCU, but have written extensively in the classroom as I am a political science major. I feel my writing could be a little stronger on the grammatical side and I hope this class will help me on that front.
I have an extremely high interest in politics as I am majoring in Political Science. I have been following this election closely and look forward to the campaign season. I have been involved on campus in the Student Government Association at TCU and have worked on several campaigns over the years. I have also worked the past two summers in Washington, DC, completing a Congressional internship and also working for a consulting firm. I look forward to following this campaign between Obama and McCain.
I believe one of the arguments my blog is making is how I want my blog to be simple, easy to understand and read. I feel the words I write in this blog will be what determine it, not the colors and design. The choice to not fill my blog with color and creative art shows that I like things to be right there in front of you with no distractions which is how the words in this blog will look I hope.
